Maryland field hockey faces off against Ohio State and Northwestern in Virginia Beach

Afterwards splitting their first two games, the Terps (one-1, B1G) face up off against 2 more conference opponents beginning with Ohio Country (0-one, B1G) on Friday at 3 p.m. and so a rematch with Northwestern on Lord's day at ten:30 a.thou. The Terps are searching for their 16th consecutive win confronting Ohio State and looking to go on their undefeated streak alive against the Buckeyes.
"The first weekend was a good learning feel for usa and it's but another weekend for united states to come dorsum and evidence what we worked on the by few days," midfielder Emma DeBerdine said.
Last weekend, the Terps struggled on converting penalty corners into goals. The Terps atomic number 82 the Big X with 18 penalty corners, simply have only converted two of them into goals.
The Terps are still adjusting with players taking on new roles peculiarly on penalty corners. Defender Riley Donnelly, forward Mayv Clune and forrard/midfielder Taylor Stonemason are all rotating through the penalisation corner execution drag flicker position. "I'm pleased that we were able to execute on two [penalty corners] this weekend," head double-decker Missy Meharg said. "We are a piece of work in progress. We are [also] working hard on field goals, getting good looks and not having to rely on penalty corners."
Through two games, Donnelly has been one of the Terps standout performers. Donnelly contributed to all iii goals the Terps scored this by weekend.
"Riley is a very patient histrion," Emma DeBerdine said. "She is very skilful in the center of the field seeing every pass, every defender. She merely brings a lot of skill going forward in our set on and getting back on defense…it'south very impressive."
Confronting the Buckeyes, the Terps will look to slow down midfielder spotter for midfielder Mackenzie Allessie who scored sixteen goals last flavor and was a offset team selection to the Big 10 field hockey postseason honor list.
On Lord's day confronting Northwestern, Maryland faces the talented midfield tandem of Peyton Halsey and Maddie Zimmer. Halsey earned Big X Offensive Role player of the Week while Zimmer earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week. Halsey scored three goals final weekend including the game-winner against the Terps.
"We are keeping our mindset positive and prepare to play once more," Emma DeBerdine said.
